Kurang dari sepekan lagi perhelatan Academy Awards ke 83 akan digelar. Film Lincoln memimpin dengan 12 nominasi, termasuk untuk kategori Film Terbaik, Sutradara Terbaik (Stephen Speilberg), dan Aktor Utama Terbaik (Daniel Day Lewis). Diikuti Life of Pi dengan 11 Nominasi serta Les Miserables dan Silver Linings Playbook dengan raihan 8 Nominasi. Di ajang Oscar kali ini actor Hugh Jackman mencatatkan nama untuk pertama kalinya sebagai Aktor Utama Terbaik dalam film Les Miserables. Academy Awards juga memasukan dua nama aktris termuda dan tertua bertarung di kategori yang sama, yakni Quvenzhané Wallis (9) untuk film Beasts of the Southern Wild dan Emmanuelle Riva (85) untuk film Amour, masing-masing untuk kategori Aktris Utama Terbaik. Sementara aktris Amy Adams kembali masuk nominasi untuk ke… kalinya di film The Master. Nama-nama lain yang biasa hilir mudik atau jadi pelanggan nominasi atau yang pernah menang semacam Alan Arkin, Robert DeNiro, Denzel Washington, Joaqin Phoenix, Christoph Waltz, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Naomi Watts, Jesicca Chastain, Jennifer Lawrence, Helen Hunt, dan Anne Hathaway kembali memonopoli di tahun ini. Well, apakah Lincon akan meraih film terbaik? Apakah Daniel Day Lewis akan membawa pulang piala Oscar untuk ketiga kalinya?
